World's Biggest Problems
1. Extreme climate change ( Global Warming) - Global warming has been an issue for some time now. Many industries still operate with pollutants that pollute the atmosphere causing many global problems such as , lack of water resources, ecosystem loss, agriculture management difficulties, droughts, weather disasters, etc. Although this may seem impossible to resolve, there are solutions to this problem. We can start by cutting out the use of fossil fuels (which we're doing), implement guidelines and policies on how we can reduce the use of these pollutants, spread awareness to the world, and many other solutions.
2. World Hunger- Hunger has always been a problem, especially in countries that are dealing with poverty such as , Africa, Asia, South American, Europe. One in nine people are suffering from hunger and are unable to provide to food to their families. With such an issue like this, we must start by spreading awareness, reduce the amounts of those suffering from hunger, provide resources to those countries that are suffering etc.
3. Rise in Terrorist attacks- This year, the world has been attacked numerous times from either isis, or groups of people whose aim is to control and threat places and those who inhabit it. How can we stop these extremist from attacking? There has been many plans that have been implemented to stop these attacks. The main solution I think we can do to solve this is to get every world leader whose country is suffering from these kinds of attacks and see how they can work together to solve these issues.
4. Refugees are fleeing Syria- War in Syria has caused many deaths, those that survived had no choice to flee from their country with little on them. Many have seemed refuged in Turkey, Iraq , Lebanon, and other places. Although in safer places , they are still suffering especially the children of Syria. We need to start bringing in more refugees to place such as Europe and America where we have the recourses they need. We can even send the resources they need to them and assist with making a transition to where they are living my providing them with houses, food, water, medicine , education, jobs and whatever they need. War in Syria must STOP!!!
5. Poverty- The lack of resources in countries have caused : malnutrition, hunger, homelessness, inability to make enough money to live on and support families, lack of water supply, etc. Poverty isn't something you can easily fix. However we can start by convincing countries that don't suffer from this to help stop poverty in countries that are currently suffering, improve water supply, supply them with agriculture equipment and such, improve the quality of education, etc.
6. Discrimination- This unfortunately still exist around the world. We still haven't reached a solid point/stand on equality. Discrimination can exist in many forms, it can be either racism, gay rights, gender inequality, disabilities , etc. Problems like these mainly arises by how one is raised. Those that have been taught to hate other people must be spoken to. What they've been thought to think isn't right nor do they have to believe what those around them believe in. People need to stand up and realize we live in a different world now. It isn't the same as it was as it's been told in our history books. We can do this by the normal tactics that have been used: education, protesting against our government , stand up for those being discriminated and let them know what they're saying isn't nice, speak your mind. STAND UP.
7. Sexual diseases- Sexual diseases such as AIDS, HIV , HPV have been on the rise due to alcohol and drugs . Many have been affected due lack of protection and knowledge on safe sex. Main solution would be to spread awareness via education and home! Many still don't realize that they can easily catch STD by unprotected sex. Countries around the world who are suffering from STI's can also be provided with prevention kits.
8. Oil demand- Demand of oil has been increasing over the years. With demand means more productivity. This however is getting harder to do because more is being demanded when we don't have the supply to satisfy those demands. The world needs to implement policies on the use of oil and how much can be used to lower the need of it. They can also slowly start eliminating the use by using fossil fuels which is also better for our environment.
9. Global H2O and food crisis- By year 2050, it is said that our population will increase to the point where will exhaust our food supply, land and water. We're already struggling to provide clean water across the world due to the high demand of it. We need to start figuring out how we can make our food and water last by finding ways to control our supplies and work with each other on how we can conserve our water.
10. Government failures/ corruption- This is the main reason to why we have global poverty, and global hunger. Governments only care about themselves or the rich. There isn't much we can do because of how corrupted the gov is. The only thing we can do is protest , and change who is leading your country.

ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie! I was assigned to peer review your assignment for the World's Biggest Problems, and I am so impressed of how alike our problems and solutions were. For the terrorism problem, I wrote a very similar solution, which maybe should be considered by people in the government that have a say in making that happen. Another one of your problems I totally forgot to jot down was the STD's. It is such a huge issue, especially in third world countries where people do not know about contraceptives or do not have any accessibility. Again, I enjoyed reading your list. You should check out mine. Here is the link: http://kmglickman.blogspot.com/2016/01/worlds-biggest-problems.html. Coming up with my list was quite easy and I hope it was the same for you.
ReplyDeleteStephanie:
ReplyDeleteLet me just start by saying, your blog is beautiful and eye catching! The most visually appealing one that I have seen so far.
It's interesting that your 2 and 4 suggestions are combined for one of mine which is the hunger that the victims of Syria is facing, they are victims of a war and little children are dying. I included a pic in my blog that is incredibly alarming but needs to be shared to raise awareness. They just received help from a convoy but they are rationing for the next month and what they did receive is barely enough for a meal a day. It's quite sad.
Anyway, in general your blog was spot on and well written. Good job! When you have time, check out mine.
